I think cutting your self may give you some kind of relief sensation, and it probably feels good, otherwise people wont do it, But if you really think about it, it wont resolve anythink at all!! and its a bad thing only with down sides! so its not worth it! you get scars, people will talk, you can get an infection, you can die...So, my advice, if you ever feel like cutting yourself..please Smoke POT instead!! ;P

cuz it's self destructive and the person doing it is trying to get rid of deep pain that they holds inside them. A person who cuts needs to get help.

Because although it is a method of coping for many people, it is not a healthy of therapeutic method of coping, and long-term, it is not an effective means of coping with long term issues either. Self destructive behaviors like self-harm is often a sign of a long term underlying condition such as borderline personality disorder, which is best dealt with by seeing a psychiatrist who will do cognitive behavioral therapy with you to help you to change your ways of thinking over time which in turn can change your behavior and help you to develop more effective and therapeutic means of coping with the problems in your life that currently lead you to do self-harm.

This is bad because ...it is only temporary relief to the pain you are feeling , bad because you will forever have scars on your arms, and bad because you can cut the wrong spot and kill yourself...is this really what you want to die or just to relive pain think about it if its the pain find another way to relase it.

Its better than killing yourself, yes, go ahead and judge me. If I had not had the outlet several years ago, I might have been dead now. I can tell you this, you need to get rid of the thing that is making you feel so bad. Pain of any kind is not as good as not feeling pain at all. Make the decision and get away from what is hurting your head.

It damages your self esteem, leaves ugly scars, and can kill you (tetnus, infection, etc.)

1.) its for attention
2.) Attention
3.) Could get infected
4.) you could go too far and die
5.) its stpid and idiotic and if you really feel the need to hurt yourself you should just try to get in a fight with a bully or somethin.

Because the body is not meant to be abused. It is the body that is helping you to stay live and experience the wonderful life. Never trouble it. Respect and be grateful.

When I was younger and found out my husband was cheating on me, I cut my arm in many places. To this day I regret this act of madness because I can never wear short sleeves or my scars will show. I suppose I blamed myself for his cheating but I was young and foolish. Please don't punish yourself for something you had no control over as you will livcce to regret it.

Well it will leave scars, and if you're not very careful there's a possibility of infection.

Cutters are usually suffering from some deep psychological trauma, so you need to get help with that rather than injure yourself physically.

I am an ex cutter. there is serious pain deep inside that you're probably not able to express and I'm guessing that its overwhelming. It could be psychological trauma and the only way you can cope is to inflict the pain upon yourself, to punish yourself for what you feel you have done wrong or hurtful to someone else. The physical pain momentarily takes away from the emotional pain, like you are in control of how you feel. Sometimes seeing the blood is what helps you to deal with the pain. It is actually more common than a lot of people think. Ignore the negative comments these jerks are saying, they haven't ever been in your situation and I'm glad you expressed it. You need to talk to a counselor or your (any) pastor, if they can't help you they can refer you.

everyone here is answering in weird ways...

it's just that we can't find anyway to release our pain. most because of other problems leading to it...

you know, if you don't mind the scars - and what is our obsession with ooh, it'll scar!- and it helps you cope, I don't see a problem with it. I'm not sure 'getting help' is the best idea since you get pegged as a 'diagnosis' and no one ever looks beyond your label. just being honest. not necessarily giving the 'healthy' 'right' answer.

Cause your not dealing the emotional pain that is causing you to cut and that is very bad in the long run. Anyone doing this seek help ASAP.

As a cutter myself I often wonder this why is it better than alcohol? In movies, in a stressful situation, people are like damn I need a drink, and we laugh or agree,, but if someone cuts, which if taken care of us far less detrimental, people freak out. Why? Scars are scars I let mine out for the world to see duck it.
