    It is hurt that doesn't open up and also the fear of the ego

    They've been ridiculed or humiliated in the past or they have been brought up to believe that showing emotion is weak.

    Because the world is populated with a lot of scumbag who will see an opening to attack a person when they Open up to them. So people are more guarded.
