Because hope is always present. A dog is like family, and pulling the plug on family is tough as well.

As dorianblue said, they are like family. Animals are so loyal and innocent, that it's incredibly hard to make a decision like that, even when it's for their own good. Very tough to lose anyone or anything you love and more so when you have to make the decision.

My pet dog was part of my life for 14 years. Everyone says that's a long time but I wish I could
have had him for another 14. We had to put him down on March 20th and are still in shock and
feeling the space he has left behind in our home. I held him as he went. I wonder if he's in the house and is here and we just can't see him?

I do pet public relations for a living and sometimes it's almost harder when my personal life and
work cross, which is what is happening now. I am unsure how long to wait before we get another dog---I
don't want to feel the guilt of "replacing" Minster---I just want to feel excited about greeting someone
entirely different and new. How long do these feelings last?

In the meantime, the good news is my job working with The Pet Loo folks means I have
a great thing in my home awaiting a puppy to help with housebreaking and for quick away
times from the new baby. www.thepetloo.com. It's kind of cool to know that when the time comes,
I'll have a whole training regimen to work on, I just don't know when I'll be ready for that day!
Anyway, thanks for listening to my experience and if you need a cool product to help with your
cats, dogs or pocket pets in your family like rabbits or guinea pigs, give The Pet Loo a look--I appreciate it.

I do not have a dog but I do have my cat and I dread the day I may have to make that decision. My thoughts are with you. I do think losing a pet who has been with you for many years is as traumatic as losing any family member.

Because it's so tough , brakes your heart , worst thing you ever have to do .

It's hard because it's the end of the warmth, love and companionship that a dog brings to its owner. I want my dogs forever with me. That's what I fight against when it's time to let them go peacefully.

Well, it depends what you mean......no it doesn't. It is because we love them. No matter what you mean, the answer is the same.
