You know what cliched movie dialogue annoys me? The way any dramatic line has to be repeated after saying the other person's name, buffalolotus...

Often it is a plot device that allows a character to explain a story issue that the average view might not understand or be familiar with. It gives a convenient opening for a character to explain the story

I don't think that I specifically remember that being a line in any film that I can think of. I am sure it has been a line in films that I have seen, but it doesn't stick out to me. Maybe you should watch some other types of films.

For the same reason that any chick you see with her top off is the next one to die. It's all part of the formula that the writers type into their little computers to come up with the newest and greatest scary movie. We like to think they're all different and original, but really they're mathematically made!
