Resolved Question

Why is it that the only time I see or hear from my 'friends' is when I visit or call them?

Am I inherently unlikeable?
Do I need to find different friends who will value me more?
Or am I just feeling lonely and having a whinge?

Sometimes people are just busy. Don't take it personal.

Face it. Maybe, they are just not that into you. Go find new friends.

Among friends, there are just some who are fond of initiating contacts more often than others. It could be because they are too engrossed with what's going on in their own lives or maybe just plain lazy. You will know if they feel the same about you by their reaction when you get in touch with them. Give it several tries. If it always felt like they were disturbed by your calling, and that you always seem to catch them at the wrong time, then that's your cue that you should move on and find a new set of friends.

I can see sometimes, if people get busy, they kind of lose track...but, if this is something consistently happening.....you should talk to them about it...Friendships should be give and take....not all one way.

I wish I had the answer, because I feel the same way about my friends in the physical space, at least.

It could be the reason why you put the word 'friends' in inverted commas.

Or maybe they really are very busy like others have said. How are they when you are actually with them? If they are good friends, then the time you have with them is quality.
