I have been there- in a state of complete hopelessness and despair. Thoughts cause physical pain, especially in the shoulders and neck. The only thing keeping me from cashing in the chips was my children. I was not permitted to be alone. My meds were all switched and we were waiting for them to work- what fun! After 4 months of a literal suicide watch, I am slowly bringing my head up. I’m on sabbatical from work; another med adjustment- one day at a time crap- and therapy. I can’t say I’m joyful or happy- but I am not hopeless or miserable. My funny is definitely coming back, though much to my husband’s dismay my sex drive isn’t what it used to be- we were 7 nights a week on principle. Life is ok-with happy moments and I’ve been assured it will get better. I’ve made this as candid as possible so as not to delude anyone into thinking there is a magic bullet. But if your patient there is hope and this bleak darkness does slowly break up.
