Its not always so painful... but is has always been painful to you. There is something more to it that you haven't experienced yet probably.

I have experienced the good bits, but they are too short-lived. but overall, longing for someone and wishing they wanted you as much as you want them,is morelt every thime. difficu

Its only painful if it doesn't work, and ya it hurts like hell. When it works it wonderful!!
But I would rather loved and lost than to never have loved at all.

The reason why love hurts for you is how you present yourself. What I mean is what are your true beliefs about love? And what ever you believe is how you present them on to the outside world. When you meet someone are you quick to fall in "love" with them? Are you the first to say "I love" you within a short period of time. Sounds like that you really never taken the time to know and get an understanding of what "love" is and "loving" self. Because once you love yourself and take your time with that person, you'll see ahead of time if that person is worth your time or not.

Mabe you are self-fufilling your own negative expectations, perhaps remind yourself daily that you are NO longer manifesting painful situations into your life, you can break this cycle and be happy.
