because of the mathematics at the heart of its structure... I'm talking about 'normal' music here... the one with Cs, Ds, Es, Fs, Gs, As, Bs plus the bemols and the sharps...
some modern classic composers like Pierre Boulez (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boulez ) decided to alter that structure by experimenting... the music obeys new rules and is not as 'pleasant' to the ear as 'normal' music... it is a bit the equivalent of abstract art for music...
