iluvmypup: get a better source, like growing it,
Not ALL religions are against it. Rastafarians quote the Bible which refers to "herb to aid my meditation".
Shiva, the right most guy in my avatar, was an inveterate pot smoker. One of the first mantras I learned was "Om Shiva Shankara, Hare Hare ganja". On Shivaratri in India [the Night of Shiva] some temples throw out foil wrapped hash instead of candies to the worshipers. Spark one up, Sparky! And think of the God who left it here for us in the Garden to enjoy.

Because marijuana helps you to think for yourself and be an individual and the church would never encourage you to do that.

Religion may be, but God isn't.

I actually don't know.

Have you seen those documentaries about the history of marijuana? It is much like the abolition movement, except this country has never gotten over it.

It is funny the people that voted for Obama, thinking he was going to legalize it, yeah right.

I would prefer to use weed to drinking. I think it is easier on the body. I also prefer its effect as to that of alcohol, but as it stands, it's not worth the potential trouble.

Marijuana is not bad.

It's what you do with the marijuana that can be bad.

Its not religion vs marijuana
Its parents vs abuse

Mary jane is cool, it's of the earth and takes you places where your parents can't find you!

Religion is not against marijuana, what they are against is the abuse of the herb. So don't abuse it, enjoy and rejoice that you can partake in the herb.

Simple: earth is full of evil.
You've could figure this out yourself. Why else would there be such a thing like pain?
Most religions would have an answer to that.

christianity is against anything that will put you in a state of mind where you can't think straight and your not really in control of your body which usually leads to drunk driving accidents or having sex before or out of marrriage or even suicide e.t.c cause that's what the devil wants so you can have excuses for doing things you know or normaly wouldn't or shouldn't do.

Not entirely sure but probably because it puts you into an altered state of consciousness. Also, not all religions feel that marijuana is bad. As for those that do, like Christianity, I know that the bible says that Jesus said to not criticize others for their habits. Actually there are whole websites devoted to the bible's words on marijuana: http://74.125.47.132/search?q=cache:xdaOa5YWhy8J:www.hempembassy.net/hempe/biblical.html+psalms+every+green+herb&cd=3&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

And urbrandofheroin-- it's just a question, it's really not a big deal.

I personally find marijuana a bit frightening. NOw days, they mix so much stuff into it and you never know for sure what you are smoking. Also, some people have bad experiences. Some people also are allergic to it. If you get addicted to it, it is not good either. Typically, religions don't want you to do something that you can get addicted to (i.e. drinking, smoking, sex, whatever.).

Religion, is a wonderful thing. It can find a way, to argue for, or against, anything you may bring up. It's all in the interpretation.

Im thinking that people regardless of religion, feel it's wrong because it's illegal and addictive.

I cannot, and will not speak for all religions, or everyone else here but in my case, it is still, for the most part, an illegal substance. And as a Christian, I am supposed to obey the law, and set a good example for others to follow. Christian and non Christian alike.

Doing so also keeps me out of legal problems.

This is my belief and opinion. And I'm entitled to it. Just as you are to yours. If your purpose is to argue it, then argue with someone else.

It's the wrong religion. Try Rastafarianism. Christians aren't very Christ-like.

It's not religion. You are speaking about individual doctrines. Some actually use it, or at least acknowledge it. and most don't say anything one way or the other. But... with some it's because it is viewed as opening you to other influences that could lead you astray from the path they consider righteous.
