depends on the crime for example
if someone kills another on purpose first thing they do is ask the victims family to choose one of three options:
1- the killer to be killed (in the same way that the victim was killed)
2- the killer can pay a cretin amount of money so that to cancel option number 1
3- to forgive the killer which doesn't happen as much as people would think
but before going to the 3 options a trial is held and after the trial should the victims family go with option 2 or 3 the killer would spend jail time depending on the courts sentence which usually is a very long time 20 or more years or until they die in prison
