Boy, that's for sure. Seems like whatever is most popular usually blows, though.

because it is a reflection of the state of the world in which it was created... if you people didn't listen to, and buy it, it would not be popular

We all know sex sells. It's the main reason why most popular music is popular. If you're half naked and sing sexual lyrics, then you're going to be popular. If you were to take away Britney's sexual lyrics, put clothes that cover her, and then have her sing, she wouldn't even be heard of. It's like a person's looks totally just masks a persons true talent.
Look at Opera singers. These people go through years of singing lessons in order to sing the way they do, but they're not getting credit for it. They hold the singing voices of the music world, but you don't hear people praising them like Justin Bieber. Someone who got famous off of Youtube, Usher, and repetitive lyrics like "Baby, baby, baby, ooooo" throughout the whole song. He's liked by young girls because of his looks.Like (1)

I think that 'popular' music has spawned a generation of wierdo kids that are depressive and suicidal. I hate most of it, and to me,it shows a general lack of originality.

Because the video has become as important or more important than the music. And the recording companies are playing it safe.
