Why isn't hydrocodone working on my tooth pain?

For those of you who say different meds for different pains- I obviously was prescribed this by my doctor. I do not take illegal drugs or drugs prescribed to someone else! Or legal drugs off the street!

Nothing really works for tooth pain other than going to the dentist and getting the real problem taken care of. anbesol and the like can numb it, but even while it's numb you still just 'know'.

And i find it weird how such a small part of your body can cause your entire being to hurt so bad.

artistaeli	Posted Oct 1st, 2009 at 11:39PM Nothing really works for tooth pain except having your tooth extracted. Drugs might take the edge off it but time after getting rid of it is the only thing that works. I know this from the experience of having 3 wisdom teeth removed. The only thing more painful in my experience is giving birth! Rated: +1Vote for this!

weareone	Posted Oct 2nd, 2009 at 12:01AM My husband is awaiting another Dentist appointment and to help him with his pain he uses a topical tooth pain reliever called Hurricane, you have to ask the Pharmacist for it, in comes in flavors. It is more effective than orajel and ambesol. It is novocaine, same drug used to deaden your gums before pulling the tooth. Wal-Mart does not carry it, your local Drug store would be your best bet. luxor	Posted Oct 2nd, 2009 at 12:58AM Hydrocodone is just a (pain-killer) but, not all pain-killers kill every pain. Most likely u will need an antibiotic to kill the infection u most likely have which is causing the pain. "grain alcohol" is the best OTC- but even it does not numb every pain brought on by infection. Let me guess; those hydrocodones are "borrowed from family or friends?" cuz any doc in question would add an "anti-biotic" with the hydrocodone that he/she prescribes...:) Been there-done that... sugarnspicey	Posted Oct 2nd, 2009 at 1:41PM All pains are different and need different pain medication. It's not about it NOT being a "good" pain pill, it just doesn't work for all pain. Unfortunately this world seems to be addicted to "medications", especially pain meds. Lack of blood (meaning low oxygen to an area) can cause pain, infection can cause pain, you can also have nerve pain, trauma pain, they are all different and need different solutions.
