Why people spend more time in entertainment than in education?

I guess education can be entertaining and even entertainment can educate/teach you about yourself and the world. After all both are human creations.
I know mental hard work can be real tough if you're tired because of some emotional strain or physical exhaustion. Learning can be daunting, it takes time to develop thorough knowledge and sacrifices too, like spending time indoors while others are having fun outside. Therefore the motivation must have been aroused early in life.

LilAnnie	Posted Jul 10th, 2009 at 6:57AM Because many are very unfullfilled in their employment and entertainment is a pleasant mind numbing distraction from that. Education tends to open up the mind and increases awareness of such things. I like bosgek's answer too. Rated: +1Vote for this!

Most people do not understand the purpose behind practices that require delayed gratification (such as education, learning a musical instrument, martial arts, etc.). It often takes years to see the results of education -- it takes minutes to see the results of entertainment. Rated: +1Vote for this!
