they recently created a bionic pancreas to stabilise peoples blood sugar levels, we'd rather do this than modify our lifestyles?? they invented a multimillion dollar machine so that the original superman actor, i forget his name, could breathe on his own for 20 seconds. once all seeds have been modified genetically there is no original structure, i hope we do not end up in a completely synthetic world but there are natural irreplacable resources disappearing before my eyes its a little scary :)

I hope we only do research to train students in how to research. I thought it was only done on subjects where funding was given because someone wanted the answers. Of course you are right but you need more guys like Bill Gates to fund useful research.

i know what you mean, but human kind seems to have a need to try and improve on everything. and necessity truly is the mother of invention. if someone is doing research on something, they must feel there is a need to do so. we should also consider who the research is being done for. this will give us a clue as to why it is being done.

It would be nice if something would point a finger to were people should focus their efforts but it really doesn’t happen (and no government cannot do it) We get allot of people doing allot of different things and sometimes that seems wasteful and sometimes it is.

We can do it considering people's need like food scarcity, water scarcity, space scarcity, using previously underutilized spaces in earth itself, the research will not spoil mother's nature natural resources. It is not difficult to fix the guidelines.

Research goes to where more money can be made.
We could all have something if it was done with a thought for all. Instead, a few have much and most have little.

Research is now done for commercial and marketing exploitation of the world which is already starving The exploitation of third world countries should be avoided in the name of research and useless, obsolete technologies. Most of the pollution for experimentation purpose are done in third world countries and most of their natural resources including human resources are getting spoiled in the name of education without providing any useful and career oriented education and employment. The third world developing countries should stand together to fight this atrocity by developed countries.
