Why so much talk about Michael Jackson?

Because he broke the black and white music barrier. Unfortunately, I clearly recall a time when there was a distinction between the two. Also, a lot of people have beared false witness about him.

Would there be so much said if a fellow EPer passed away?

Because he was the best entertainer of all time, because he broke race barriers, generation barriers, because so many people grew up on his music and there are so many memories that come with what he gave us. You can remember where you were when you first heard "Remember the times" or Thriller. I hate people like you that hate everything and everybody even people just showing compassion for the dead. i hope when you die people say whats the big deal too!

Why so much talk about MJ? Seems obvious. His career as an entertainer has spanned the majority of the last few decades +. Not only did he change the way music videos were made, he has outsold everyone else. That's quite an achievement, especially considering the last 10 years he hasn't been doing much. He was good at what he did and he died suddenly. If he were dying of cancer, it would have been expected.

It is too bad that people aren't drowning their brains in all of the bad things happening with the economy and the state of the country. God forbid people think of things other than how they're going to pay their mortgage tomorrow, or how their tax dollars are going to be spent. Don't be an @ss your entire life. Something happened that affected many people and some want to mourn about it. End of story.

I feel sad for Farrah's family, all along the media followed her fight with cancer and now she has died on the same day as MJ and you hear nothing. I know MJ was a huge icon however the media owes it to her to talk about her as well.

Not sure really I never liked his music he was prety unremarkable except for looking like he belonged in the movie Hell Raiser

theres a marathon on vh1, now that's hard to get! oh by the way he's dead if you haven't read that already.

I find it interesting that more people follow entertainment news than the disaster the congress and administion is putting the country in!

michael jackson was a very sensitive and vulnerable guy who took to many punches from a lot of people as well as the newpapers.he had a troubled upbringing he was a big kid at heart as thats where he felt most comfortable. he remained humble,polite as well as defending himself on television interviews concerning his attachment to children .his dance moves always looked effortless as well as his creativity and amazing voice, he always brought entertainment to people of all ages, and his records were played in juke boxes in the pubs and in nightclubs.people would request his songs to be played at weddings and parties. he is unforgetable. a lot of people feel that a part of themselves have been taken away as they were raised with him. his life came to an unexpected abrupt ending at the age of 50.for what michael jackson gave to the world and the amount of respect and caring he had for his fans and his family his life was cut short much to soon,but his music will live on in all of us. cheers.
