Even Native Americans who were granted citizenship rights under the Act did not have full citizenship and suffrage rights until 1948. In the Bruyneel vs. US case did the states withdraw their prohibition on Indian voting in an election.<br />
As a Native American, I know that in the Indian territory of Oklahoma it was late in the 60's before the Government ended the forced enslavement of our children that were forced to attend Indian Boarding school.
They weren't citizens of the 'United States'...
