Why would you cater to someone who doesn't treat you right?

I wouldn't. I don't know why people do. And yes, I think women tend to cater to men more than the other way around. I don't know hon.

I have done it because I thought I loved him and thought that if I did everything in my power to keep him happy that I was being a good wife.But all of that crap is out of the window and is done and over.

i would never cater such people.

I have a friend like this. She does everything to make her husband happy while he just grunts and says nothing to say he appreciates all that.

I think she does it because she simply doesn't think she can do better. It's amazing really how someone great like her feels like she's lucky already to get someone who doesn't appreciate her that way.

I didn't have enough self esteem or respect for myself. I have seen men go threw it, but I do think women tend to cater more. Not sure why. No one should cater to someone who doesn't treat them right. That can be easier said then done though:(

Yep...I do it every day... However that's going to change. It takes a lot out of a person.

It's actually a resounding indication to the amount of self esteem a person has. If a woman who is goal oriented, driven, caring and honest is with a man who treats her poorly, she may actually have a fear that she herself has faults which have yet to be discovered.
If she is with this type of man, she tries hard to please him, but almost certainly knows that she is getting the short end of the stick. His poor treatment is a small price to pay for staying. The alternative for this woman would be to find someone who is also goal oriented, driven, caring and honest, but risk the safety of her unhealthy relationship. In other words, her finding someone who actually cares about things may result in HER being rejected by this new man, revealing her faults. Her staying with the undriven man is a safe bet. Love may be there, but her staying with him, or going back to him is largely driven by uncontrollable fear.
She has hand.
