I think it can look good.
My girlfriend certainly thinks it looks good. I'm not sure I have any non-skinny jeans left in my wardrobe. :-)
What does it matter? Go be you. I know it's hard, but if you look to strangers to accept your non-conforming fashion sense, you'll get the standard response: "Ew, that's not 'normal,' and even if I liked it I wouldn't say that in public."
