Here's the thing. The Basic law here says Hong Kong rules its own people, has its own government, and can retain independent from China. Now, the language of cantonese which 97 percent of inhabitants speak is declared non official. The government is comprised of Mainland loyalists who use the taxpayer's money to benefit the mainland freeloaders who come to take welfare. In 20 years the treasury will hit red numbers and local taxpayers will have to pay more while the mainlanders keep leeching. Meanwhile, Mainlanders in HK outnumber locals 8:1 already and they totally disrespect locals (jumping queues, spitting in MTR trains and yelling around and generally giving the city a bad name). What will be the fate of this former British colony?
