No. It's like trying to drown yourself, your body just won't allow you to do it deliberately. Your body will start to struggle when it notices that you're not taking in any oxygen, so when your body struggles, your instincts get turned on and you immediately take in any air around you.

The only way I could see this possibly happening is if she where stupid enough to tape her mouth and nose, while having her hands tied behind her back by a friend or something. But then again, that sounds far fetched.

Read the link please. The woman voluntarily held her breath when she heard police were going to take her away. she suffocated to death.

I did read it and I'm saying that there was no way she died from that. You can't physically hold your breath unless you where forced, your body WILL NOT allow it. I feel that there was something else involved, like one of the police hitting her or doing something to her out of stupidity because who knows, maybe she was flailing and trying to flee for them. Maybe they held her down and knelt on her chest..but there is no way she could've died just by holding her breath voluntarily. I hope they do an autopsy and figure out what went wrong, study every bit of the body because I don't believe that she died on her own accord.

No. You'd pass out 1st and then start breathing again. It isn't that easy, otherwise children around the world would be dropping like flies when they don't get their way.

It's "Ignorant", and secondly I will bet you anything she had an underlying Medical condition or it was just coincidence. The article didn't offer details.

So she had a heart attack. I still don't see how holding her breath caused this. It may have aggravated her heart but there is something else to this.

Don't have to, the answer is obvious. If the article contradicts my answer the article is wrong
