Women... does the size of the stone in your engagement ring matter? If so what size would be the minimum you'd accept?
Within the last two years, two of my close male friends have bought two different rings for their fiances. The "first" and "original" ring they proposed with. Then shortly after they purchased the one their fiance actually wanted. Both women kept the original ring the men proposed with as a right hand ring and used the second as their engagement ring.
Both girls complained about the size. Making pretty lame excuses for why they NEEDED a bigger ring. What is your opinion???

No, not everyone can afford it. Its the meaning behind it that matters!

I'd accept a string around my finger.

They kept BOTH rings?! That's insane! The size doesn't matter to me. I don't even want a diamond. I just want a simple, elegant ring. :)

Depends how materialistic your girlfriend is. Beyond that I can't help much, Personally I wouldn't want a guy to waste ANY money on metal and a rock! And what does the guy get out of the deal? A lifetime of paying off credit cards?

They sound like a$$holes.... An engagement ring doesn't have to be a large stone.... just make sure the wedding ring is STUNNING :)

It depends on the girl and the finances of the guy. People shouldn't put their values onto others. I had a friend who got an embarassing 30 point princess cut ring and it looked like a ring out of fruit loop packet! She later bought herself a 70 point ring and wore it on her right hand ! How cheap does that make
her husband look, especially when he earns a good living.... Its up to you and your partner on the size, it should be completely personal choice, without cheap people's judgement. When we get engaged I want to buy him a beautiful watch.

Listen to LyNz46: Words of wisdom. Later on, it will be the size of the paycheck.
