Why one eath would you do that? Sort of defeats the perpose dosn't it? We should engenear them to taste better.

Sounds like a gratuitous attack on vegetarians. Obviously vegetarians are more likely to be opposed to tinkering with natural processes. I seldom eat meat because I find industrial slaughter totally inhumane, we hace turned animals into commodities, wasting vast amounts of meat as if killing meant nothing. That's why I eat organic meat as much as I can.

Where do you stand on people eating bugs? Are they worth saving, even though they're not cute and cuddly, and they out number us several million to one?

I think only people that are willing to go hunt for their own meat should be able to eat it. If your munching on a macburger and claiming your right to eat, it makes you look like a pansy.

when we were not that many and advanced, lots of people were food for wild animals. They also eat each other.
I am horrified when i think about "meat industry" and how animals are grown and slaughtered with zillions to produce food for us. But i eat meat, and i like it. Extremes are BAD.

I guess if that were the only way to stop people from eating them....

But what if genetically engineering caused health problems for the animals?

And you wouldn't have to genetically engineer all of them, as there are certain types of animals that hardly anyone eats.

I think it would be better to just not eat animals, but I know that's unrealistic...

Would it not be a better idea to genetically engineer humans, instead of animals, to not tolerate animal proteins in their digestive system?

Oh not at all. I don't believe in genetically engineering anything. Mother Nature set things up right and humans keep screwing with it.

I wouldn't mess with them myself; I would educate the humans about the reasons why eating animals is not nice - forget that they taste nice - and that eating them (despite what the Bible says in the Old Testament), HAS CONSEQUENCES which also are not nice!

If they want to find out what those consequences are, they can go right ahead and eat. They will find out during their after-death Life Review...

What on God's green earth would that accomplish? In an effort to save the animals, we're going to wipe them all out first and then genetically engineer replacements so people stop eating them? Isn't that counter-productive?
