What a bunch of apologistic drivel. It's embarrassing that this is still even a debatable topic. Of course we'd be better off without all the various invented Gods that people have come up with. People should embrace what can be shown to be true through logic and evidence. Hint: ancient books written by barbaric and primitive goat herders count don't constitute neither logic or evidence.

God is Love!

So what you are asking, would the world be a better place without love?

Absolutely not!!!

Best Answer

God has been here since the beginning of time and he will be here when time is no more. God is the alpha and omega which means the beginning and the end. I know my life is much happier because of my relationship with God. A lot of people are afraid of God and his word but the more you learn about him and what he has done for you and will continue to do if you obey him the more you love him. My world would be a sad place without God.

Let's assume there was no god, and anarchy broke out:
1 population will revert to sustainable levels,
2 people will try to keep fit to defend themselves,
3 with a very high chance of being robbed or killed, we wont waste resources producing stuff that we dont need,
4 we'll ditch the couch and live life for real cos there wont be an illusion called afterlife waitin for us.
The list goes on...

Best Answer

I would love to say the world would be much better without god. If all religion were to just up and disappear tomorrow I would be one of the first to pop a cork.

-However-

While I do believe a number of faith-based-crimes would not occur, the capacity for human beings to enact horrible and inhumane things on each other is not completely driven by faith. Some people would find another reason to do the things they do. There will always be some excuse.

The real question becomes, Would be world be a better place if there was one less excuse for evil in the world?

The answer to that question is clear, yes. Fewer excuses mean fewer justifications for the evils your choose to inflict on your neighbors.

So god is just an excuse.

It's not God's fault people kill in his name !

It's stupid people

Best Answer

There will be killing and discrimination, God or not.
The world will be a much poorer place if there was no concept if God.

Best Answer

There are many answers that have given some of the points I would have liked to have made already. For example - humans would find reasons to kill each other and do other "evil" things regardless. There will always be hate and discrimination and humans will always find reasons to carry on doing these things. However, you could say that the concept of God has had a hand in some of this because of the way religion has been used to justify things like this. Then, it's all a question of beliefs and what they can lead to. You don't need to be religious to have beliefs or be led to obey. It is authority that does this and leads us to war and so on. Religion (idea of God) is merely a means through which some gain authority. It's not needed for this though - think of all the tyrannical leaders...

The concept of God can also be very important. It makes us think about things such as existence. We can learn many things by trying to answer why there is such a concept in the first place and what "God" could mean. We can learn much about ourselves.

As others have already said, the idea of God can help many discover what is meaningful in their lives, in a variety of ways. One way is what I have stated above. Another way is by inspiring us to do good and to appreciate the other human beings on this tiny planet.

So in all, I don't think that the world would necessarily be a better place without the concept of God.

What a good question. Hard to answer!

Best Answer

God is not a concept. God is as real as you are. The problem is not God. The problem is sin, which separates man from God. And man made concepts of God fall short of who God is and God himself is clouded over by man's sinful foolish concepts. It is God that is keeping this world from falling apart, and one day it will be God that makes everything right- this is the whole point of God - to make everything right in the world.

today we'd probably be better off without it, but thousands of years ago, when people didn't have a clue about the world and how it worked, about chemistry, physics, all that. Understandably they needed to make up a reason they could believe in. So god created the world, and humans and animals etc etc... Today though we don't need it anymore, God is useless:)

Best Answer

no because man would set himself up as a god and the negative cycle would just begin again

I Love God I trust God. I pray everyday to God I do not want to talk bad about anybody but I have to pray to God for my own reasons I need God 100% If I lose my faith to God right now everything would not be pretty. I will be a state of How should I say It? I would not know how to Bake a cake if I didn't have the instructions. or If someone ask me on how to get to a nightclub called Jennifer ends I would not know where the club is. I need God because God can take me to a place where I never been before. God can give me the things that I need and to carry and to say certain things positive certain things to people. And to guide people. To me in this world I need God badly.

Best Answer

Even if you don't believe in a God, there is a being out there that is guiding us all. No matter what you call it...He's there!

Best Answer

then what would you hope for? there would be no hope. God keeps us moving along. god gives us hope for the future and what it holds... but to answer your question... i cant be certain... EXCELLENT question though.

Best Answer

I don't believe so. While many people are capable of finding their own sense of morality without any faith in a divine being, it sure doesn't hurt to give people a bit of incentive to be nice!

While it's true that some people have always used religion as an excuse to be greedy or cruel, others have also always used it to motivate kindness. Even though I don't agree with their beliefs, I can't stand in a Salvation Army soup kitchen - watching people giving over their time and labor for no other reason than their faith - and believe that a concept of God is an entirely negative thing. Religion may take lives, but don't forget that it also saves them.

Best Answer

No, the same part of the mind that believes in or invents god (depending on your point of view) also seeks justice, it's not psychology it's neurology.
Man is a social creature, with social behaviors built in.

I Don't Think So. If EveryOne LIVED with GOD in THEIR HEARTS instead of all the Hate this would be afar better place to Live

Best Answer

The world would be a better place if there was no religion, no government and no money. The world was succesful the first time around.

I agree totallywith what duana said, that was why in the days of the old testament god made the ten commandments, it is mans sinfull nature that causes all the sin in the world and trying to live with out god is why the world came to be as it is now, (rebellion, against our creator) this is why when Jesus comes he will make it as it should be, a sinless happy world, no pain, no tears, no death, He say's, "behold in a twinkling of an eye you will be made new, behold for the former things have passed away, i am the alpha and the omega, the begining and the end, the first and the last, blessed is he who do his commands, they have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.
