No, I don't believe so. There are always going to be religions, since humanity is always seeking a way to make sense of its existence. Ideally, a religion inspires us to behave in a loving and spiritual way, even if that religion is only an interpretation or collection of stories about the truth (rather than direct revelations of the truth).

No way. Without Christianity the world would be so much more chaotic than it is already. (Aside from the crusades and other violence done in the name of religion). Also if people had no religion most people would think that they have nothing to lose since this life is temporary and there would be far more violent and immoral acts committed. This is true of most religions, including Islam (Islam is a peaceful religion; it is the extremists that do the terrorism. But then every religion has its extremists.)
