Cash. If they are homeless and decide to go buy alcohol with it, it's none of my business. I get stressed sometimes and want a beer, why shouldn't he, someone who is down and out, not be able to enjoy life a little bit. I'm not saying alchohol and drugs is the answer but it's not my place to be judgmental. Homeless shelters provide them food, not alcohol. Who wouldn't want a drink after having to sleep on the street?

If they want to buy alcohol with the money, it's possible that they will be in a good mood for an hour or so. Or, maybe they will learn their lesson. Who knows? I hate seeing them standing outside when its super hot :( There was a guy standing by the exit out of the walmart parking lot holding a sign that said jobless, homeless, and ugly. If i had anything to give him I would have. We're only one step up from him though...could be homeless and jobless any time. This recession is really sucking big time. Rated: +1Vote for this!

I would tend to give food as I have before. I've watched too many beggars scamming people when they've got $50 bills in their pocket. Unscrupulous, reprehensible behaviour. Rated: +1Vote for this!
Inominatrix	Posted Jul 7th, 2009 at 7:03AM Here it's more humane to give out food. You give out cash, they either buy alcohol, ciggies, or drugs -- and that includes the kids. You give them clothes, and they sell them to secondhand stores so they have money with which to buy alcohol, ciggies, or drugs. Rated: +1Vote for this!
geenpunchbuggie	Posted Jul 7th, 2009 at 8:27AM i would give them food... i might even give them a few dollars. but i will say that when people approach me at rest stops with some crazy story about how they're trying to get money for gas or their husband beat them up, i won't. i have seen these as tactics used to obtain drug money on shows like "the intervention". crosseyedlemon	Posted Jul 7th, 2009 at 11:28AM Having being homeless I was interested to read the answers. I was fortunate in that many good hearted people gave my food, drink and cash. Anything you can give will always be appreciated by someone who is homeless. If you are considering offering food please ask the person what they would like. Some people cannot eat meat for religious/moral reasons and others may have certain food allergies. Rated: +1Vote for this!
