Would you change your ethnicity if you could?

Well... I was born into a "white" family in New Zealand, and in my mid-teens we moved to a farm in an area of the country which had about 30% Maori population; and I became great friends with a Maori boy with whom I went to school on the school bus every school day. I "recognised" him somehow (I think from a past life connection) and I would have given ANYTHING then to have been born a Maori! I read books about Maoris and the early days of NZ settlers, joined a Maori Club, tried to learn Maori language, and for about two or three decades was simply "enamoured" by the culture of Maoritanga (Maori-ness)...

I am still a great fan of things Polynesian, and there is a reason for that too - my extended genetic lineages are about 63% Polynesian, although my immediate ethnicity is strongly "white Caucasian". However, I realise now that I was born into the family and ethnicity that I was born into, for a reason; and thus there is little point in changing that, because it is "who I was meant to be" this time round, and fits the requirements of this life. There are things I have done in life which would have been difficult or impossible had I been a Maori.

Probably not. I'm not very good at recognizing ethnicity by site so I would look really dumb while trying to speak the native language to the wrong damn people. I don't mind being naive in this area because I do respect any ethnicity.

A guy I once was super crazy over ( I was 16 then) preferred asian girls. So yes at that time I wanted to be a geisha girl..lol Yet since then I am grateful to God for who I am.

No. Whatever I am here to learn about includes my ethnicity. If I had the power to change periodically for scientific or superhero functions, heck, yeah. But I'd mostly learn as me.

Yes, definitely. I would change my ethnicity to Jewish; not for the religion, for the show business connections.

Yes, I have never fealt quite right being white. When I was a kid I thought someone made a mistake "up there" but I expected to grow browner as I got older. I am older, and I was wrong. Oh well, I dont get to be as beautiful as others this life time.

In some ways I would just like to look like one particular ethnicity instead of always hearing "you are pale so you must be Irish" ..."you have dark hair and pale skin, are you Spanish from Spain?"....I feel like an exotic mutt haha

I really would. There are so many scholarships available to Islanders and Maoris here in New Zealand, and I would also really like having a Tribe to identify with. I used to feel left out being the only non-Maori among my friends. But my friendships have diversified now and I am comfortable with who I am.

No I don't think I would.

I am a White American with Italian background and I like the way I look

I would also never want to change myself to seem ''cooler'' you know? Sometimes people consider others of Asian, Hispanic, or an unusual ethnicity to be more interesting; and I would not want that to be the reason I changed.
