Would you do something unbelievably controversial if you were to become a governor and probably get impeached or worse?

I think I would pardon or commute most of the three-strike, low-level weed convicts if my state has such a severe rule. And keep doing it until the legislature sends me a bill repealing such foolishness. Save my taxpayers some money and put some relatively harmless people back where they can work and pay taxes.
