    Friendship isn't just based on proximity. I had penpals when I was a kid. Besides, online you can still figure out whether someone's just handing you a line or not.

    Yes. People may be less superficial online than people you meet in other ways and one day you could meet them too maybe :)

    Yes. Online relationships are so much better. I don't feel as uncomfortable and they don't have to see my face.

    you can be good friend, great friends, close friends,... refrain from giving your heart out without meeting at all. you're right, they could be a little different online than in reality. talkative person may be shy. pretty faces might be too cowardly to stand up for themselves or for you. many turn offs. stinky, miser, etc.

    You can be fake in person too. You never know online or in person until you establish a relationship and start getting to know each other.
