If it's your first grown up small dinner party and you are not an experienced drinker, you should be aware that you might get a little drunk with that much alcohol.
However, serving a cocktail before dinner was a Cosmopolitan custom adopted after Prohibition. One usually served h'ors d'oeurvers as well....followed by a dinner with a well chosen wine, and coffee with cheese and fruit for dessert.Like (1)
