My avatar is Charles Fort. He was an American writer and researcher into anomalous phenomena. Today, the terms Fortean and Forteana are used to characterize various such phenomena. Fort's books sold well and are still in print today. For over thirty years, Charles Fort sat in the libraries of New York and London, assiduously reading scientific journals, newspapers, and magazines, collecting notes on phenomena that lay outside the accepted theories and beliefs of the time. He was the real Fox Mulder. Since we share a hometown, Dutch heritage and world view, I feel close to him. And he actually does look like me.

Mine represents my place in the wildness... maybe of the spirit but also physically. pic of wild black bear taken in summer. Since then have seen fox, moose and while walking on a moonlit night, white wolves at close range. Typically Canadian I spose.

BlackArcher....it was a nickname bestowed upon me by a friend that I used to bow hunt with. The first time he saw me with a bow he commented that i was the first black archer he'd ever seen....making reference to my African American heritage. I liked the name and it stuck.

I've been using tarot cards for avatars. I started with The Fool, because it can represent the Green Man from mythology. At the moment, I'm using the Blasted Tower from the Thoth tarot deck. I like that deck for its vivid graphics. The tower is an interesting symbol because it can represent change and destruction. In my very limited understanding, it is one of the most evocative cards in the deck.

Well, my avatar goes farther than just liking the movie "American Gangster". When I found this movie poster i saw the "less is more" in it.
The "face/head" being cut off in the picture represents me not wanting anyone to remember me, I just want to live my life and then fade away into obscurity.
The skyline in the background represents me being a city boy. I was born, raised and will die in the city.
The suit represents me being a gentleman at all times, whether I'm up to good or no good.
The gun represents my own personal power. Especially over my own life. My destiny is in my own hands and warning to those who try to stand in my way.

My avatar is me.....no real meaning but I come on here to be me, to speak what may be in my head, vent, meet people, be true to myself hence the pic.

An empty hourglass of sorts. Outside of time, constantly in motion, untouchable. My personal uroborus in a sense.
