I wouldn't name my daughter Maxwell but I'm also not a celebrity. Celebrities seem to name their children exotic or non-traditional names as if to stamp them with the charge that they must be unique so the world will know that they are the offspring of a celebrity.

For example, Frank Zappa's kids names are Moon Unit, Dweezil, Ahmet Emuukha Rodan and Diva Thin Muffin Pigeen. Even though that is extreme it is not uncommon. Gwyneth Paltrow named her daugher Apple. Beyonce Knowles named her daughter Blue Ivy.

Celebrities can be utter idiots. I think some of them choose the names they do as a "Looook aaattt meeee!!!" So no. I would not name my daughter Maxwell. (Son would be fine.)

What next? "Tuna can"? "Milk carton"? "Vacuum cleaner"? God, I am probably giving someone ideas ;-)

No. But I also wouldn't name my child "Blanket" or "Moon Unit".
Celebs do all sorts of things I wouldn't do.

I like the gender defying name, and boy names like "Max." But if she wanted to call her daughter Max, she could have just names her Maxine. It;s like she's trying too hard to be relevant.

I wouldn't. I'm all for unique names, but she's going to get bullied for having a boys' name.

Don't the stupid parents think that this child has to grow up and live with this name?
She will probably change her name later when she is old enogh. The kids at school are gonna name her something like instant coffee or something else that we be insulting. There are are a lot of exotic names they could have chosen.

Nope. But I might name her Ryan. I've always thought that would be a pretty name for a girl despite being traditionally male.

It's also the name of a disfunctional oligarchic family that shamelessly use their power to raid pension funds and generally corrupt democracy by means of their strangle hold on the media.

So NO, I don't think so.
