Would you rather live in a neighborhood that had a skeevy dive bar or a homeless shelter? Which one is safer?

My community has nothing even remotely close but I like that there are dive bars for people that love them and homeless shelters for people that need them

A dive bar is a worse reflection on the neighbourhood than a homeless shelter is. I used to live a few blocks from a declining neighbourhood. A NIMBY manor went up a few years after I got there. The locals were enraged, but if anything it improved things, aside from the residents occupying the local library all day once they'd been put outside after breakfast.
