In whatever language it was originaly written. Many words, phrases, etc., do not translate properly into a different langauge. As in when someone tells you a book has lost something in the translation.

the original if I have command of the language, I have read translations for instance "The Club Dumas" by A. Perez-Reverte. The German translation from the Spanish was better than the English in my opinion.

Nothing beats an original so that is how I would want to read it.
