I don't receive gifts for myself, generally, but I buy gifts for the children in my life. I know people who are struggling here that I'm hoping to help. As uncharitable as it may sound, sometimes charity begins at home. I respect your efforts, however.

On world Vision we donated a bull, a goat and ducks. Next year we're really going to try for a deep well. I hope we can save up enough money.

Context is lost online. I dont need a holiday as an excuse b'c one can give all year round. Why do we need Xmas as an excuse?

I do understand where you are coming from however if more people put others needs in front of their own and did something like this it really would give and mean the true meaning of Christmas. If this was done worldwide there would be no famine on this planet.

If everyone who gets gifts said no for a year and asked for a small donation instead we could wipe out famine in no time however it will never happen through people putting themselves first.I am no being critical of you as an individual however this would be the stock answer for most.Christmas is all about the birth of Christ, not about exchanging gifts.
