There are two perceptions here. The lover could not trust me (which is when I'm not going to stay; I'm trust-worthy) or the lover does not trust THEM (a bit irrational, but it's not something that can be calmed).
So in the second scenario, I would. But I would show them how they have to trust random people and they actually DO everyday, even though they don't think about it...Like (2)
