Resolved Question

Wouldn't you have done the same?

if you fell out with this girl at your high school, so she goes off talking behind your back telling everyone that you have a disabled sister except she uses the word retarded, which you hate, so you confront her and she admits it laughing saying am i wrong, and she goes gone to say that anytime a 15 yo can't read and you have to watch her i will called that retarded, so you end throwing your book bag in her face, and you get suspended, and your parents punish you even more

Did the other girl get punished? She should have been punished too (although, being THAT ignorant is punishment in itself - she'll get hers someday - like when she says something that narrow-minded and bigoted to the wrong person! hee hee!). I think the way she talked was either harassment or bullying or both or discrimination or something!! As a teacher in the public school system, I would have had some not so friendly words for her myself - AND if I thought her parents would be upset about it (which may or may not be the case - hate to say it, but she might have learned this attitude from her parents), I would be having a nice long "chat" with them too...

My only advice is next time - don't stoop to her level or anyone else's - only because YOU are getting affected in a negative manner and it is not helping you or your sister in anyway...

BUT good for you for taking up for your sister! I wish your parents could see that - physical violence is not tolerated in schools at all so you have to figure out a more constructive solution in the future - I would hate to see you have to live with anymore negative consequences!

This is so unfair for you. The punishment is probably to prevent the matter from escalating further. Remember, this girl is really ignorant and now she knows what to do to get you going, she'll more than likely continue. Unfortunately she is one of many ignorant and hurtful people you'll meet in life and it's a good idea to find a nice, non-confrontational way to deal with them. Let her say whatever she wants. You know the truth and people who really care for you won't listen to her anyway. You can always say the standard comeback from my childhood: "Takes one to know one!" and leave it at that.

You were right and your parents should not have punished you. I hope the book bag hit the little twit in the face.
