It is due to expressive genes.......depending on the more dominate phenotype will result in eye colour.

Has to do with genes of your parents. Brown is dominant, and blue is resesive. Two brown eyed people can have brown or blue eyed children. Two blue eyed people can't have a brown eyed child. Does this help?

Because there are colour pigments in our iris.

Evolution--brown is dominant and was first then a weird split on the genome produced blue and the blue was favored to the point where it became a trait instead of just a random event. If that first blue-eyed mule had never reproduced, well, then we'd be brown. Brown is favored because less eye cancer from the sun. And by mule--I mean mutation. A neat mutation like blue eyes won favor--an odd mutation like three legs did not.

uh oh mzdevine is at it again. This was a good question. It is because of the genes and I read somewhere that hot climates tend to have people with darker eyes...hmmm interesting.

It also has 2 do ur hair color, about 99 percent of the time-darker hair or hair with true red under tones will have brown eyes (known as iron pigments) and hair with true yellow and or gold/copper undertones partner up with blue/green eyes (sulfer pigments) of course the world is becomming a melting pot, so we will start 2 see these genetic rules being broken more and more...gotta love the stuff they teach u in cosmetology school lol
