Yesterday I saw the novel Tom Sawyer and the Undead. When is this foolishness going to end?

Q&A Home   >  Hobbies   >  Books

A mash-up can be fun when it is small, simple, and takes little effort. But a fully blown mash-up, one that takes an original complicated concept like Twain's and marries it to the cultural afterbirth of zombies and/or vampires, and takes considerable efforts for so small a reward? I do not get it.

Let's just say every ignorant hillbilly fundamentalist culture in the world has their own apocalyptic myth about recreating a medieval paradise on earth and right now we've got people calling for secession from the union. Until they accept it ain't happening and they lost the civil war 150 years ago the foolishness will continue to be popular.

Does Tom or to zombies have a thing to do with this question? This cessation thing is bothering you a bit more than maybe it should. The impression I get is either you think it is a serious problem and you are going to chase me from question to question about it.

These aren't just zombie movies, but zombie apocalypse movies and they're so popular these days they're running out of ideas and resorting to being the most bizarre B movies they can be. In general horror movies are popular with teens and being bizarre and making hidden social comments adults don't understand are popular with them as well.
