False, it's all up to the person who's holding the gun, and their state of mind.

False. Mexico has very strict gun control laws, yet people are shot and killed everyday there. Want proof: Just cross the border.

True. As the number of people possessing firearms grows so does the number of people harmed by them. As the number of gun related crimes goes up it become normal.
simple true fact:
1. In the UK during 2010 there were 60 homicides caused by firearms including two shot by crossbows. Compared with 12, 996 homicides in the US. even accounting for population differences the per capita levels for the US are much higher than the UK.

The problem with the UK stance is that the criminals still have guns. It's just the law abiding citizens that don't have them. But that just typifies our governments attitude. Self defence is usually considered a crime in the UK.

True. Well .. for the most part true of course there will be exceptions. I live in New Zealand a country that bans gun ownership (there are a few exceptions but the average person can by no means go out and purchase a gun) and shootings are a rare occasion. When one takes place it's huge news for weeks. However in countries where gun ownership is a right shootings take place on a daily occurance. Although many of these countries have a much larger population to take into account. Normally the bigger the population the higher the crime rate.
I guess the easier it is to get your hand on a gun the more likely it is for people to get shot. However even if gun ownership is prohibited there will be a black market. However even with a black market the number of guns in existance would still be lower than if guns were legal in a country.
