There mere thought of what those genetically-modified seed companies are doing is enough to set me off in a rage!!!

They way I see it, mankind should not screw around with genetics beyond what you can do by cross-pollination and cross-breeding. These occur in nature and cannot be patented. Gene splicing is going way too far. Patenting the results is going way too far. If a farmer buys and sows genetically-modified seeds, said farmer should be the one who gets fined if those patented seeds spread to other properties. The way it is now, the farmer whose property those patented seeds blow onto, through no fault or effort of their own, is the one paying the fines for it. That's WRONG!!!

Best Answer

they make it so that they now OWN the rights to all seeds and the genetically engineered crap has less nutritional value than organics,.

Best Answer

I totally agree! Nature is very complex and all living things have been kept in balance since life began on earth. The nutritional value of food is as it needs to be to support all the life forms that feed upon them. It's far too complex to explain in more detail in this tiny space. If any life form's nutritional value is altered, for better or worse, nature will be forced to balance everything all over again. This affects evolution and some species will die while new species evolve to adapt to the changes. Mankind throws a wrench into the inner workings of nature by altering genes so suddenly. The freaks/mutations that occur in nature either survive better or die, and that's how nature balances and evolves. I want to say much more but I'll stop here. :(

A recent landmark case, Organic Seed Growers and Trade Association (OSGATA) et al v. Monsanto was filed on March 29, 2011 on behalf of family farmers, seed businesses and agricultural organizations in an effort to challenge Monsanto’s patents on genetically modified (GMO) seeds and protect farmers from the biotech seed and chemical giant’s abusive patent infringement lawsuits.

Between 1997 and 2010, 144 farmers have already been sued by Monsanto and another 700 have settled out of court for undisclosed sums. Many times these abusive lawsuits force farmers into bankruptcy and off the land.

They aren't trying to help anyone. It's call population control. Once they control the food they'll control the population.

When they introduced genetically modified soy into England, the government had to change the allowable level of insecticide because the genetic modification cause the "natural" occurrence of insecticide in the soy to be 2 1/2 times the allowed level. If you believe a ten percent increase in crop production is worth feeding our children 2 1/2 time the previous allowed limit of insecticide, it solves our problems.

An aside. The world hunger problem is not about production. The world produces more than enough food to make the whole world fat. The problem is, corporate greed, and governments that want a starving population so they can maintain power.

Genetically Modified seeds cause disaster. It destroys natural genetic diversity, it enables people to make seeds that produce plants that don't produce viable seed. This means that the plant that the GM seed creates does not make new seed that can be saved and planted the next spring. So in the winter, when all the plants have died out, there is no seed to collect. Thus farmers must buy new seed every year from Monsanto. Monsanto has made it illegal in many areas for anyone to use any seed other than GM seed, so the farmers are in every way forced to buy seeds when normally it would be a cheap cycle or planting and collecting seed. The genetically modified plants also have a much lower nutrition value and does not make for hardier plants....chemical fertilizer, pesticide, and herbicide are still used that also depletes nutrients and adds toxins to the food. Organically grown food is more nutritious and free of any chemical and unnatural toxins.

I like how people have such a positive out look on G.M.O. proves advertising works.
Sadly the real facts are shockingly bad.

They WILL NOT make pesticides unnecessary - because organisiams evolve to become resistant.

The guys who invented the process are now asking for it to be stopped!
The inserted material is unstable And causes unprdictable mutations.....And you still think it is safe to eat?

The problem is we tincker with thing we dont fully understand....And sorry i dont want to be a test subject.

You say it can help 3rd world countrys?.......Like Monsanto will give it away for free?...you think?

The biggest problem in farming?....Soil erosion.........And the biggest cause?.........The fields are too big..not offering protection from water flow and wind erosion.

Second biggest problem.......The soil being over worked....fields are not allowed to lie fallow anymore.
And there for become nutritionaly deficiant....whis is then "solved" by dumping tones of toxic chemicals on the soil.........Which in turn is absorbed by the plant....and ends up in you via your dinner?

Want to feel shockingly healthy............Go organic for 6 months.

I have gone organic and it feels marvelous. I even went back to eating regular crap for a week and proved that organic does make a difference, because I felt awful!

Don't they make the seeds so they will grow crops that do not produce viable seeds to ensure you have to buy them over and over every year?

Best Answer

yes!!!! and they produce food that is not as nutritious!!

Best Answer

there is a BIG difference between cross breeding and genetically modifying foods ourselves....how arrogant are you to think humans can do it like nature!! NATURAL SELECTION is not equatable to genetically engineering food in a lab!!! And those studies you talk about.....horseshit...propagandists lies to fool the ignorant mass public.

It will solve the food problem once the epa butts out of the farmers lively hood. Did everyone forget where breads come from? Wheat, and guess what? All wheat is from genetically modified seeds....

Best Answer

thats not true, that is ignorant. try talking to a farmer and see how much they WANT epa to "butt in". Farmers don't want the GM seed, they are being FORCED to buy them and use them.

Conscience? Conscience like making a concerted effort to produce foods that might make food cheaper for starving people,, that kind of conscience?

No, the kind of consciousness that could generate new unknown diseases that could create havoc we still do not imagine the scale. But everyone is free to think what he wants, you or me. ... Wait and see The future will tell us ...
