i was on my way to work one day during the Christmas season, and i stopped at a local drug store.  as i was making my purchase, an elderly woman came in.  i heard her ask the clerk if anyone had reported finding $200.  she had lost it out of her purse.  it was her Christmas money.  she told the clerk it was all she had.  the clerk denied any knowledge of it, and she left.  i felt terrible for her.  then i had an idea.  it had been a good year financially for me.  i ran out of the store, and found the woman, who was crying.  i opened my purse and gave her $200 in 4  fifty dollar bills.  she said nothing, but just stared at it.  she started to say something, but i just said "Merry Christmas!" and ran to my car.  i drove away.  it was my best Christmas ever.

The gentleman ahead of me at the hardware cashout was fumbling while searching for his money to pay for his purchase. He went into a form of anxiety attack when he couldn't find any. I told the cashier to let him through - I would cover his debt along with my purchase. He looked astounded, amazed and so thankful that a complete stranger would do this for him. I know he was thankful because he posted a personal thank you note in the local news paper explaining this situation.

Last Saturday (10-24)  I went into the cleaners to pick up a shirt that I had taken in to be cleaned and pressed in preparation for a dance performance with my daughter that afternoon.  As I walked up to the door, a small elderly lady approached at the same time.  I held the door and exchanged pleasantries with her.  I stood behind her at the counter as she waited for her dress.  The young lady hung her bag on the hook and told her the amount.  The lady took out her purse and almost immediately I could tell that there was a problem.  The lady began fumbling through her purse, carefully at first, but with a growing sense of urgency,  I heard her mutter a couple of times.... " Where is my money?"  "I know its here somewhere."  After a minute or so of this it was quite apparent that she had misplaced either her money or her wallet somewhere.  She seemed to be completely devastated by this and very close to tears.  I told the young lady behind the counter  "I will take care of it for her"... The elderly lady looked at me incredulously, with a look in her eyes that I will never forget, and simply said "Thank you... "  The girl behind the counter gave her the dress and she went out the door.  After she was gone, I turned to the girl behind the counter to settle my bill.  She explained to me that the elderly ladies husband had just passed away on Wednesday and that the dress was the one she was wearing to the funeral on Monday morning.  She said that it was the nicest thing she had seen anyone do in a long tme and that it showed her that chivalry wasn't dead.  I am sure that it is the best eight dollars I have ever spent.

I was in the supermarket and an elderly lady was trying to pay for her shopping which was about ten tins of beans,  she was paying it with coppers (pennies etc)  she was struggling to count the money and looking at the amount of money in her hand you could tell she didn't have enough.  I gave her some money to pay for the beans. she smiled , paid the bill abd  went on her merry way :)

I generally like to do random kind acts for anybody I can, but unfortunately I don't feel I've been presented with an opportunity to help a stranger recently.

So, if a 20yr old guy from Liverpool, UK can do anything for anybody on here, let me know and I'll try my best. :-)

I gave 20 dollars to a guy and his mom, who was in a wheel chair, who asked me if I would take them home. But I had to be at work in 5 minutes. So I told them use the money for a cab: About a year ago I saw a lady trying to push her car, so I ask her do you mind if I help you. So once we pushed her car she jumped in it while it was rolling and it started up: I saw this homeless guy walking without  shoes and it was cold that day I don't know how much I gave him but it was over five dollars: I saw a lady standing on the corner of a store she walked up to me and ask will you take me home? I was hesitant but I took her home. This is a great question and it will remind people that through all the chaos and pshycotic things we hear and see, still good people around us.

In reading these posts...One thing has came to my mind.....We all do so much for those that we do not know...And most of the time we dod not even know that we are doing anything...

If while you are out on the streets....and you pass someone and smile...Well that is something that just might change that persons life....Might just have saved it...Or if you look at someon that is dirty....and sluring their words....Well most would pull away....But think of this one thing...That dirty...homeless person....Could just be Ill....or perhaps might have been attacked...and is injured...And really needs your help.....It takes far to lettle to look that person in the eyes....and offer something that costs you nothing....A smile...and a hello...We all have so many of them...We will never run out of them....Sometimes it is that small conection with another human...That does the most....I mean...You never know.....

That person just might feel so all alone in this world....That they might be thinking...Why even bother to keep on going.....But that smile...and that one little word.....Well you just migh give them the strength...and the courage to keep on going....and it could save their life...

I know that this does not even start to andwer the question....But it was the answer...that was in my heart to give...But if you really need an answer....I looks someone in the eyes....smiled....and said Hello

On my way to Colorado, while at a change over of flights, I went to wash my hands. My self and another person were at the sinks and he left before I had finished washing my hands. I saw he had left his watch on the counter by the sink, I quickly scooped it up and ran into the terminal and spotted the guy and took his watch to him.

Awhile back, i worked for Perkins Restaurant. Well, we make pies and such for holiday sales. With the extra pies and such, i took my kids and we delivered them to the local food shelters. We helped out the homeless and my kids got the experience of doing so.

Random acts should be done often but never be spoken about by the doer.   It spoils the beauty of randomness.

One Xmas when buying our tree I noticed a young worker who was helping us didn't have any gloves for handling the trees. After we purchased the tree I stopped off at Homedepot bought him some leather gloves. Went back to the tree lot and gave them to him.

One mother's day while purchasing potted flowers for my mother I mentioned to the cashier these flowers are at a very good price. He replied "yeah, my mom likes those too". I said "well, there's only a few left. Better hurry". He replied It doesn't matter. I have no money this year" I reached into my wallet and gave him the money. I replied "Now you do"

I gave a local homeless man $20.00 to buy food. I really didn't have it I've been unemployed since december 2008 and it isn't looking good. But he needed it more than me.

Whilst standing in line to board a small train I paid for the family behind me to board without telling them.

The cashier didn't tell them either & so the money was lost.

I took an elderly lady to her voting precinct table, so she wouldn't have to hunt for it.
