Fed Up

IM A 34 YR OLD FEMALE THAT MADE A HUGE STUPID MISTAKE BY TRUSTING A MAN AND NOW 3 YRS LATER I AM STILL PAYING FOR IT.  I NEVER HAD A ANY PROBLEMS FINDING A JOB BUT NOW WITH MY FELONY IT SEEMS LIKE I WILL NEVER WORK AGAIN. I AM SO THANKFUL FOR HAVING SOMEONE WONDERFUL IN MY LIFE THAT UNDERSTANDS WHAT I AM GOING THROUGH BUT I FEEL LIKE A HUGE MESS. I HAVE NEVER BEEN UNEMPLOYED OR BROKE. I HAVE PUT THOUSANDS OF APPLICATIONS IN AND SENT MY RESUME TO ALMOST EVERY WHERE. I HAVE BECOME DEPRESSED AND MY FAITH IS SLOWLY BREAKING. SERIOUSLY, HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO FIND A JOB WHEN I CANT EVEN GET AN INTERVIEW? I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THE GOVERNMENT EXPECTS FELONS TO WORK AND TRY AND CHANGE FOR THE BETTER WHEN WE KEEP GETTING THE DOOR CLOSED IN OUR FACES.. DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO ;(

Probably the best answer is to LEAVE this country- where ex-convicts are social outcasts- much like lepers... So many ex's end up selling drugs- going into prostitution or stealing- to make a living in this country that does not want them. There needs to be a website of FELONS HELPING FELONS- and I'm also talking Sex-Offenders- those who have NEVER TOUCHED a child- but must wear the label.

Well I am in the same boat so I understand where you are coming from completely... I wish I had the answers but I hope that things get better for you...

It is very sad that a reformed felon has to pay for their mistake for life. Do not give up hope as that will not get you anywhere in life. Just do what you can and eventually a door will open. Keep the faith and the best of luck to you.

I one time worked a two time convicted felon and hse told me a little trick to do when filling out an appication and it comes to the part of criminal history...she told me that she puts a question mark, this way she can explain herself at the interview and she said she never had a hard time finding work. An employer will see the question mark and will want to know about so it gives you more of a chance to explain yourself...you are not saying yes or no...you are meerly saying i have a question about this part of the application. Good luck with your job search
