Follow the Rules & Expunge Your Felony

I am a felon - convicted in 1999.  I have a class B felony which is not able to be expunged but I have talked to the DA's office in my county of conviction and was told that if I have met all my requirements for post-prison supervision and restitution and kept my nose clean I can probably have my class B reduced to a class C which will then be expungeable.

The circumstances may be different in your state, but if you're a student at a college/university check about legal services that are free to students and ask them for advice.  If you aren't a student try and find a free legal aide in your area.  Many cities have legal aide for low-income people so we can access the law too.  It seems that there are ways to clean up your record - especially if you have been living by the rules since your release.

I'll update my status as I move through this process and I hope this info is helpful to someone.  Felon's need a way to re-enter society in-full so we're not second class citizens for the rest of our lives.  Keep looking!
