I Absolutely Love Bookstores
I don't know what it is. The fact you are surrounded by thousands of words, lives, histories, cultures, traditions.
There is something about a bookstore that is almost magical. That sense of calm when you enter the store, the background noise fading away as you make your way through the shelves to find the right genre for you. The trailing fingers along spines of books and rows to find a name, a picture that grabs your eye, some unearthly pull that grips your attention. Holds you in its power until you have read the blurb.
Its almost amusing how many times i'm attracted to a book because of the cover or the name, and then as soon as I read the blurb, I am disatisfied with the storyline.
I love the ability you have in bookshops to be able to wander round without looking like an idiot, and being able to spend hours in there, without feeling you are being watched as a suspected thief.
But, in all honesty the best moment for me, is when i find that book, the one that is pratically golden, that entrances you with its blurb, the cover is simplistic but symbolic still. This book, that will hold your attention for hours on end, have you on the edge of your seat in anticipation for what comes next, and have you yearning to continue reading, when you need to do something else. That my dear friends, is why I adore bookstores, no-where else do you find a place that is so enigmatic. That gives you a sense of fulfilment, intrigue and leaves your mind tingling with scenes you have created in your imagination whilst you are reading. That experience, I would not wish to lose.
