I agree wholeheartedly, there is nothing better than the smell of books, new or old. I can't wrap my head around why someone would want a Ereader, it doesnt take the place of a book at least not for me. Though I mostly go to second hand book stores, it pains me to see perfectly good worn books go to waste sitting on a self, their worlds waiting to be discovered. I'm getting off topic lol but yeh Ereaders will never ever take the place of a book, if they do I'm retreating from humanity to live in the wild with my mini library ;)

I got a nook cause it was on sale. The next day I took it back. I just love the feeling of a book in my hand. And the smell. I love going to a book store, feels like I'm looking at my old friends. Just waiting for me to pick some out. I'm will never be and ereader

My kids are always telling me to get an e-reader. I always tell them no thanks, for many of the reasons stated. I also heard, & correct me if I wrong, that those gadgets take back the books you bought when it has reached it's limit. I would rather keep the books I have read in my den library.

All good points and I agree wholeheartedly. There's something about holding on to old favourites, like "Goddess" by Anthony Summers. I bought that book in 1986. It's yellowed and dog eared now, but one that I'll never part with.

Relaxing with a book at the end of a long day. Holding the book lovingly in one hand while turning over the pages with the other. Reading the synopsis at the back along with the list of other books by the same author. Recommendations for similar reads on the inside page of the cover. Sometimes dozing off. Compare this with staring at the monitor sitting uncomfortably, clutching the mouse or the keypad to scroll down..... Thank you for sharing.

we are so much alike on this . . . I wrote a similar story some time ago . . . I LOVE everything about books . . . like you . . . the scent . . . the feeling and weight of it in your hand . . . that enticing cover . . . leafing through it's paper pages and that feeling of accomplishment with every page turned . . . but do not fear my friend . . . they will never get rid of bookstores . . . hard copies of information are always in need and you cannot get anymore hard copy then a book of and to reference . . . hail long live the books . . . 8D

I can't see bookstores becoming obselete either, just like libraries. Thankfully, in this fast paced tech society we live in, we'll quite likely have the comfort and serenity of bookstores., not to be replaced by any other. Thanks for your comment AND calling me friend. :0)
