Who You Calling Honey... Ain't Nothin' Better Than Vanilla Honey & Granola

OK... I am not a huge fro yo fan. Frozen yogurt has never really been my thing. I lived in LA during the whole Pinkberry explosion and I have to confess that I am not a fan... the flavour just about killed it for me no matter how many things I added... it just tasted like yogurt. Which don't get me wrong -- yogurt isn't bad -- but it is not a dessert in any way shape or form.

So, I think, I went on a Fro Yo Rebellion of sorts. It became my brussel sprouts (note: this is something I hated in my childhood but have recently come to love if fried up with garlic and butter and bacon because bacon makes everything better... but that is a story for another time). Anyway, back to the great Fro Yo Rebellion of 2007. This carried on like all non-violent protests for quite some time... well into 2008.

Then one day, I was walking through the frozen food aisle in the supermarket and I decided I wanted something sweet. Now I have a crazy sweet tooth, I have been known to kill an entire cake all by myself, so I have to be sensitive to what this craving. I also live alone -- although at the time this was not true, I was living with The Beast (what we all called my old roommate, but that too is a story for another time) -- and I decided I need to make a healthier choice if I could. This usually leads me to pick up a pint of sorbet... but you see, I love HONEY. Honey is the best and it is so under appreciated.

So what happens you ask?

Well this pint of Haagen-Dazs Vanilla Honey + Granola Yogurt starts making eyes at me. You know the type. You are standing there minding your own business and then suddenly you feel like someone is staring at you... you look around... and bam there they are chasing you all with their eyes. Well, this is exactly what this little pint of Haagen Dazs was doing to me.

I looked at it intently for a spell. I mean just as I don't usually go for blonds... I don't really do this whole yogurt things.. at least that is what my mind was telling me. But you see, I told you I do love me some HONEY... similar to the way I love a quick wit... and granola... well that just made it sound so healthy. I was sold. And that's where it all started... this crazy, head over heels, love affair I am having with... of all things... Haagen Dazs Vanilla Honey + Granola Yogurt.

I am alone? Please tell me I am not the only one.

I guess I am like a vacuum cleaner when it comes to ice creams, I love and cherish every flavor, so you are not alone.

I LOVE this ice cream, I cannot pass by it in any store and NOT buy it.
You have picked a winner!
My second favorite is their coffee ice cream, Makes my heart melt. Too bad it has so many calories otherwise I might consider this as my breakfast. (did it once. LOL)
Haggen Daz is the best ice cream from theirvanilla to their cherry garcia. I have yet to have one I did not like.
My husband eats at least 5 pints of this a week and is as skinny as hell.
Tel me why doesn't it put weight on men though????
LOL
Great choice Jake!

Ok, this is too funny because over the past month I've suddenly become an ice cream hoar!! It's awful - I can't get enough!!! And I've gone through Haagen Dazs, the store brands, the Starbucks brand, some new version called '5' (because it's suppose to be just 5 simple ingredients) ...but worst of all - I've given in to many, MANY *********'s with Ben & Jerry!
It started with vanilla, then coffee, then Chunky Monkey and various other versions of something plus a 'little' bit of chocolate...and then I lose all control!! You see, Chocolate is my most covetted but greatly denied guilty pleasure! It's my heroin, you might say. I avoid it at all costs because I know once I start - I can't stop! Can't seem to ever get enough! And that would be okay, really, except for my, not a little extra 'cushioning' around the hips - that could come in handy ;p - it's the damn break outs! I don't care what the world says...chocolate may not make you break out, but it makes ME break out! Hands down, every friggin' time! Life is so unfair!

But every so often, I just can't resist it for one second longer! The whole ritual of trying to 'appease' my real yearning with substitute flavors is just a game I play. And toying with the thought that just a little 'taste' of it could begin to satisfy my craving is much like just makes me want it more! And those damn tiny little servings are such a tease!
I have no choice but to finally give in and go for the whole sha-bang! When all caution has been thrown to the wind and I'm a slave to my savage craving...B&J's Chocolate Fudge Brownie is 'the one'!!!
******** of all inhibition, I hungrily make my way from the top to the bottom of that sweet & creamy pint in one night and without apologizing!! It's just one, blurry, immensly pleasurable and uttmost satisfying encounter! MMMMM!! AHHHHH!! OOOHHHHH!! YES! YES!! YES!!!

Of course in the morning, I can't even look at myself in the mirror... The shame! Oh, the shame!! LOL

Too funny, I am a Chunky Monkey addict myself.... Great story Jake.
OK I'll pass over the blond comment too, but I have you all beat on my flavor preference! I have not ever found anyone who loves the same flavor of Ice cream as I love.

Black Licorice, you haven't experience a true Ice cream arousal until you have tried this one! No one ever makes it, and it seems only to be found in speciality Mom & Pop Ice cream parlors, it is an experience you will never forget.
It starts off slowly, as your licking the cold, black, concoction then taking the creamy substance and swirling it around in your mouth, then as the substance slides down your throat the magic begins. As the flavor hits your tastes buds it does a dance back and forth between sweet and salty, then slowly as it slithers down past your taste buds down to your throat, it suddenly burst into a million ******* in your mouth! OMG, I have never had a flavor ****** like that until I tried Black Licorice Ice cream. If you don't like black licorice then you may be surprised how different the flavor of licorice is when it is combined with cream, it is by far the most erotic food I have ever had. If you dare try it you will be like Meg Ryan in "When Sally Met Harry" Screaming, Oh God! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!

I dont tend to eat Haagen Dazs as its too high in fat. I prefer to have fat free frozen yogurt as it comes in a ton of flavours. My favourite is Purple Cow.

If it's Haagen-daaz then it's COFFEE flavor all the way! Baskin-Robbins: Dacquiri Ice! Bluebell: Homemade Vanilla.
But I've never met an ice-cream that I didn't like.
An old favorite regardless of brand is Mint-Chocolate-chip.

Jake- I actually love Haggen Daaz in probably any flavor but no Cherry -please but I will never love Brussel Sprouts no matter what you put on them!!!-lol

Ok, your getting really weird. Ice cream? Frozen Yogurt? LOL I guess I'm just in a different place right now. Have you tried the Food Network?

Hmmmm...Never tried that one....But it does sound different....Would be worth giving it a try...

So Jake - Haagen Dazs, to me, is to Ice Cream like Rolls Royce is to Cars (or maybe something sportier and younger, but hey, I can't think about this all night!). I LOVE Haagen Dazs Ice Cream - my favorite flavor you ask: I'm not telling - that's for my own story!!

This your favorite story of mine because of the reference to The Beast or to bacon? Because, honestly, bacon does make everything better. I wonder if Haagen Dazs will ever consider making a bacon ice cream. I tried garlic ice cream once and it wasn't half bad actually.

Jake, I think this is my favorite story of yours I've read so far.. I also love that they are starting to sell scoop sized containers of some ice creams. Dreyers has a slow churned coffee flavored that is AMAZING! but that honey granola does sound good.. so do those brussels sprouts... hmmm

Hagenz-daz Strawberry is my favorite flavor/ It is the best.

>>> stands up and confesses: I secretly prayed that God would help the dessert angels realize yogurt is yogurt, and not a treat to be worshipped, named after, or just plain "tastes like vanilla icecream...try it baby, you'll agree"-- I SO DID NOT !!! ;-) LOL

I like their new five ingredients line... the ginger one is particularly good in my book.

Just a taste here and there, though. I have to keep my girlish figure after all. ;)

EPJake... I don't know about you sometimes, man. I am amazed that you were able to wax poetic about, of all things, ice cream and somehow compare it love affairs with women.

But somehow you did it! With that in mind... you are not alone in your love of Haagen-Dazs, sir.

Anything from the sorbets are pretty delicious, I must agree.

But that said, they have a few flavors with caramel... which is my ultimate weakness. D-LICOUS!

Read closely... I don't usually like blondes... for you FGmmm, I will make an exception. ;)

Awwww Jake I am disappointed that you don't like blondes as I have always thought I was very special to you. LOL I'll recommend the story anyway.
