Toasted Coconut Sesame Brittle Is My Boyfriend.

I will share my secrets with anyone here on EP, but I will not under any circumstances share my Toasted Coconut Sesame Brittle... well, OK, maybe if you ask nicely.

First, I confess that I am not a huge ice cream eater.  I don't really have much of a sweet tooth.  Often, I go salty over sweet.  Chex Mix to cheesecake any day.  But, recently, I had a bit of a craving after a long week of just lots of things going wrong.  I wanted to just sort of be bad and treat myself and curl up and watch bad TV.  I wanted a real treat and, for whatever reason, I knew I wanted ice cream.

That was the day I happened upon my dirty little secret -- Haagen-Dazs "Reserve" Toasted Coconut Sesame Brittle.  Now, before I go on, let me describe this to you.  It is the perfect marriage of coconut and ginger sesame brittle.  Seinfeld's own monologue on the beauty of the Black and White cookie has nothing on this combo.

It was 4 months ago when I first encountered this delightful little secret... and let me tell you what I have learned since... it really is RESERVE.  Two months ago, I had a bit of a craving and so I stopped by my same grocery store... and NOTHING.  I checked back the next week during my normal shopping and NOTHING.  The following week again... NOTHING.  Finally about a month ago, I broke down and stopped by three other markets in the course of my errands and daily commute and so forth.  It took me three stores to find this flavor... and I can not tell you how happy I was.  Sure, did I feel a little stupid that I had such a craving for this flavor that I would come to the point that I would just randomly stop by a grocery store and check to see if they might have it... sure, I do feel a little silly.

But even I draw the line somewhere... I only stopped by grocery stores that were on my way... it's not like I went out of my way or anything. ;)
