Haagen Dazs 'five' Ginger

T his story begins in 2005 not long after I turned 21.  I was at a trendy bar in Los Angeles with friends.  The club was underground and dimly lit.  I went to the bartender and ordered a delicious blueberry ginger concoction.  I enjoyed my drink as I chatted with friends.  As I neared the last few drops in the martini glass I reached for the large chunk of ‘pineapple’ that sat at the bottom of my glass.  Before I knew it the piece of raw ‘pineapple’ was in my mouth and I began to panic as I realized my drink had contained no pineapple!  The flavor overwhelmed me and burned my mouth.  Caught up in the music, chatter, and drinking I had mistaken the raw ginger for pineapple. 

Since overdosing on ginger that night I have steered clear of ginger.  That is until I discovered the Haagen Dazs ‘five’ Ginger.  This new line of ice creams by Haagen Dazs certainly only five simple and natural ingredients.  I liked the concept and the ginger flavor was all that was left so I gave it a try.  It was delicious-sweet, creamy, with a little kick.

Since trying the Haagen Dazs ‘five’ Ginger, I’ve become addicted.  As much as I would like to try the other flavors and regardless of the fact that I will often go to the store with the mindset of trying a new flavor, when I see that pint of Haagen Dazs ‘five’ Ginger, I know that today will not be a day for experimenting.  Today I’ll be taking home another pint of HD ‘five’ginger.
