On The Tube.

Last February, when every international news agency and other mass media outlets that transmit or publish in English (I caught 3 from the UK, 2 each from Australia and South Africa, 1 from Germany, 1 from France, 9 or 10 from Canada, and 1 from Japan), all did major news pieces (sometimes as much as half of their show) on Darwin's 200th birthday. It also happened to be Abraham Lincoln's 200th birthday. Here in the US, every major media outlet had a large news piece on that; not 1 on Darwin... NOT 1! Now don't get me wrong, Lincoln was a great man and is one of the most important figures in our history, but Darwin is 1 of the 3 most influential scientist in world history, not just ours. Now we could put this down to Americans being basically self-centered, but I think that it's much more than that; I think the ******* Creationists are in control of our so-called "liberal" media (they are definitely in charge of ABC [Disney] and Fox). Science is losing the war here. That's why, for all of our wonderful technology, we are falling behind of the rest of the world in medicine (scientists in other countries make the discoveries, we build expensive machines and expensive [and often dangerous] drugs to diagnose and "cure" them, but only if the megacorps can make serious bank. Does anyone else think that this may have something to do with the ******-up state of our "healthcare" system?

Couldn't agree more. Our position in the world is diminishing as the politics of religion replace science and critical thinking. I congratulate on a well thought our rant.
I find that I am less and less tolerant of the creationists and the religious in general. I used to think it was fine for the masses to have their superstitions, and it gave them basic moral rules. But I now see that stupidity damages us all.
