I Admire Faith, Hope, And Charity
Over the years I have come to meet and talk to a great many different people, and this pattern has continued here on EP and I have found that to impose one's views on others is not a question of faith but rather the opposite.
I have spoken to countless Missionaries, most notably Mormons who listened to nothing I had to say because all they cared about what to har themselves preach to me that their faith was the one truth path to salvation, that they were the ones who were following the true teachings and that, without saying it in tose words, everyone else was wrong and damned.
I can't help compare these experiences to my dealings with a "Jedi" who reluctantly admitted to me after several exchanges that he was just that. He never, not even once, tried to make me see the universe as he did, tried to convince me that his way was better or that my way, whatever it may be was wrong. As I have grown to despise missionaries for their targetting vulnerable, weak and troubled peple for heir brainwashing I have come to truly admire this new friend because he has proven in both words and actions that faith, hope and charity can be found well outside of the religious set boundaries that we are told must be present.
By his request I will not use "Jake's" real name as the Jedi pride themselves in being "the force behind the scene", not wanting to be crdited for the good they do becaue it is not their way. If even a small fraction of these missionaries out there actually tought as the Jedi do, the world would truly be a better place because they would be out there actually helping others instead of trying to convert them, but alas there is no money to be made in being truly selfless and thinking of others before your church.
Jake is an amazing man possessing knowledge and wisdom that floored me more than once, and yet he never spoke down to me as so many other missionaries have or belittled in the slightest way what I believed in. He told me about the 16 hour shifts he has volunteered to homeless shelters, hospital, emergency releif stations when trouble has striken even in areas hours away from where he lives.
I truly admire him, his faith in the universe, his hope in people in general and mostly his idea of charity in which he gives of himself withou hesitation and expects nothing in return; not from people or the universe because he knows that what he is doing is right.
How many others can truly claim this?
